R&B star Ne-Yo is 'playing like a boss' after been awarded almost a million dollars, stemming from a lawsuit filed earlier this year. The singer/songwriter/producer was released from the R. Kelly tour last year after performing only two shows. Ne-Yo claimed that he had upstaged Kelly as the reason for being let go, an allegation that the Chicago native denied. Atlanta resident Ne-Yo instead sued the tour's promoter, Georgia-based Rowe Entertainment Inc., who never answered the lawsuit. However, the company did post a statement on its website after the lawsuit's filing, saying they couldn't obtain a "final, fully executed contract" from Ne-Yo's agent. Unfortunately for them, it didn't matter because last week Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Malcom Mackey ordered the company to pay Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, and his touring company $700,320. Ne-Yo's new CD "Year of the Gentleman" is due out September 16
